Elections will be held on Sunday, December 8 from 3:30 – 6:00 PM at the Hoover Met Parks & Rec office. All HSC members (you are a member if you have a child who is currently playing with Hoover Soccer Club, or who are playing with Hoover Vestavia Soccer Club and originated from HSC) are encouraged to vote. If you have any questions regarding the HSC Board of Directors or the upcoming elections, please contact Larry Ingram at treasurer@hooversoccerclub.com.

Barry McGahon - Vice President

Why I’d like to serve: I’d like to serve as Vice President of Hoover Soccer Club because I’m passionate about supporting and developing the program and providing a positive experience for our young players. With my experience as Club Secretary, I understand the club’s inner workings and am committed to fostering a strong community for players, parents, and coaches. In the Vice President role, I’d aim to improve organization, enhance communication, and work closely with the board to ensure we’re meeting the needs of our growing club.
Do you have any experience you’d like to mention that would make you an asset?: As a Senior Director in a large corporation and recently serving as Club Secretary, I bring strong organizational and leadership skills. My background in strategic planning and communication equips me well to support the club’s growth and foster a positive community for our players and families.
Josh Worden - Vice President
Number of children playing in the club and in what program (Recreational, HSC Competitive, HVS): I have 3 girls actively participating in HSC ages 3 (Recreational), 5 (Recreational), and 11 (HSC Competitive)
Why I’d like to serve: I’m passionate about fostering a positive and enriching experience for all players, families, and the community. As a parent and HSC coach, I’ve seen firsthand how the club helps children grow, not just as athletes but as individuals learning teamwork, resilience, and confidence.
Do you have any experience you’d like to mention that would make you an asset?: I’ve coached for several organizations including HSC with all three of my daughters. I’ve also coached boys football and basketball. Professionally, as a Vice President of People Operations (HR), I bring experience in leadership, strategy, and organizational building. I also bring expertise in driving effective communication strategies, fostering strong organizational cultures, and implementing and managing training and development programs. I’m eager to use my skills and experience to enhance player and coach development, strengthen engagement through clear and inclusive communication, and ensure the club continues to thrive as a well run, connected organization.
Marketta Campbell - Secretary

Why would you like to serve on the Board?: I would like to serve on the board because I love helping out and helping to make any programs my children participate in better.
Daniel Phillips - Member at Large

Why would you like to serve on the Board?: I’ve played soccer my entire life, I coach my kids, and I would love to help make the club they play for a special club.
Do you have any experience you’d like to mention that would make you an asset?: I have helped run two different adult soccer leagues, managed multiple teams, and I am a small business owner that employs 7 people.
Jeremy Smithson - Member at Large

Why would you like to serve on the Board?: Both of my boys enjoy soccer and should be in the Hoover Club for years to come, I want to be involved and help make the club as good as it can be.
Do you have any experience you’d like to mention that would make you an asset?: I’m the owner/ceo of a hoover based online kids clothing company (Stitchy Fish). Since I became the CEO in 5 years we have gone from less than one million dollars in revenue to over $25 Million dollars. From that experience I believe I could be a great asset in the clubs future strategy and growth planning.
Otto Inagamov - Member at Large

Why would you like to serve on the Board?: Being in the club for over 7 years now, I have met many awesome kids, parents and coaches that made us become one big soccer family. I have witnessed HSC growing from a fairly small club to becoming one of the biggest and best soccer clubs in our state and I believe we have lots of potential to improve and develop in many ways.
Do you have any experience you’d like to mention that would make you an asset?: My soccer background and 20 years experience and expertise in business management and contract negotiations locally and internationally allows me to be productive, supportive and efficient board member. I love our city, community and most importantly soccer, therefore I would like to join Hoover Soccer Club Board so I can serve and support our club in any way I can and help it grow to the highest levels.
Dr. Stephen Hill - Member at Large

Why would you like to serve on the Board?: While in North Carolina I served on the Board of Directors of the charter school that our children attended. I served for six years and was elected Board Chair. I very much enjoyed the board experience and have been looking for opportunities to serve again.
Do you have any experience you’d like to mention that would make you an asset?: I’m interested in serving on the Board of Directors for the Hoover Soccer Club. I am a professor in the Brock School of Business at Samford University. I am a Birmingham native (grew up in Homewood) and my family and I moved from Wilmington, North Carolina to Hoover in 2023.
Becca Atkinson - Member at Large

Why would you like to serve on the Board?: To serve and better the program for which we are so heavily involved
Do you have any experience you’d like to mention that would make you an asset?: I serve on the Hoover Youth Cheer Board and the Trace Crossings Elementary PTO Board
Andrew Riley - Member at Large

Why would you like to serve on the Board?:I am eager to serve on the Board because soccer has been a significant part of my life, from playing at a competitive club and high school level to competing at the collegiate level for UAB’s men’s team. With numerous friends who are coaches at various clubs and colleges across the US, I have a desire to get more involved with Hoover Soccer Club. At this stage in my life, I am dedicated to investing my time and energy into my children and their club, helping them and others reach their highest potential in the game I have always loved.
Do you have any experience you’d like to mention that would make you an asset?:I currently lead a team of 10 individuals at a Fortune 500 company and am capable of supporting the board in whatever way is needed. My professional experience has equipped me with strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills, which I believe would greatly benefit the Board. I am passionate about youth sports and committed to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for all players.
Phil Cendoma - Member at Large

Why would you like to serve on the Board?: I would like to serve on the Board of Directors for HSC because soccer plays a significant role in our family life. Having two boys (U12 and U10) actively involved in the sport, my wife and I dedicate considerable time and effort to their development and have a vested interest in the club’s success. I enjoy serving in my community and would like to contribute to improving the club wherever needed, ensuring it provides the best possible experience for players and families alike.
Do you have any experience you’d like to mention that would make you an asset?: I believe my background and experience would make me a valuable asset to the Board of Directors. As a university professor at UAB, I am skilled in strategic thinking, fostering collaborations, communication, and mentoring, which can help in shaping the club’s vision and engaging its members. Most importantly, I love being around people and share a genuine passion for the sport of soccer, which fuels my commitment to contributing positively to the club’s success… In the words of the great Dani Rojas, “Futbol is Life!”
